General Secretary of Congress, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, has slammed Union Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad over his comments linking Bollywood to the economy and dismissing an economic slowdown. Priyanka Gandhi Vadra took to Twitter and wrote, "It is sad that when millions of people in the country are losing jobs, their money is frozen in the banks, the government is not worried about the public's grief. They care about the profits of films. Minister Ji, come out of the film world. Do not hide your face from reality." Here is Priyanka Gandhi Vadra's tweet:
Ravi Shankar Prasad quoted box office collections
In Mumbai, on Saturday, the Law Minister stated a bizarre fact and dismissed the reports of an economic slowdown at a press briefing. He said, "As I am in Mumbai, I have come to know about a very interesting story regarding slowdown. As I was an Information & Broadcasting minister in the Atalji government, films have always been dear to me. According to trade analyst Komal Nahta, the national holiday of October 2 saw the industry earning Rs. 120 crore — a record by three movies War, Joker and Sye Raa.' If the nation's economy is sound, then only such a return can be witnessed in a day.
Ravi Shankar Prasad termed NSSO report as "wrong"
Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad dismissed concerns over the state of unemployment in India. Calling the National Sample Survey Office (NSSO) report as “wrong”, he countered it by listing 10 parameters such as electronic manufacturing and Information Technology. Furthermore, he questioned why the NSSO data did not take into consideration these parameters. Stating that the BJP never promised to give everyone a government job, he accused some individuals of deliberately misleading the nation.

We never said we will give government jobs to everyone. Few people tried to mislead in a planned fashion. pic.twitter.com/FTGXuhzN19
