The BJP in Rajasthan has enrolled more than 26 lakh new members so far and will achieve the target of 30 lakh by the completion of first phase of membership drive on August 11, party's state convener Satish Punia said.
National convener of the membership drive Shivraj Singh Chauhan will visit Udaipur on August 7 to review the drive, Punia told reporters here.He said Chauhan will give the party membership to 1,000 youths who have become voters for the first time.
Punia said that the goal of this membership drive is to expand the idea of nationalism to the booth, respond to religion conversion, love-jihad and anti-national thoughts. The BJP is now a party of public concerns and not just of election slogans, he said.
He said the party will celebrate a "Membership Target Fulfillment Week" from August 4 to August 11.Under this, "membership chaupal" will be organised from August 4 to 8 and door-to-door membership drive will be organised from August 8 to 11, Punia said.
