Union minister Smriti Irani on Saturday reached Baraulia village in Amethi district to conduct a rally march following her victory in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections against Congress president Rahul Gandhi.
During her 'thanksgiving' visit to her Parliamentary constituency, she will also meet the family of the Village Pradhan and the family of late BJP worker and her close aide Surendra Singh who was killed on May 25.
In Amethi, she is scheduled to visit the villages that were adopted by late former Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar. During her visit to the visit, Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant is likely to accompany her. Parrikar had adopted these villages under the NDA government's 'village adoption programme'.
Earlier on May 25, Smriti Irani visited the constituency following the murder of one of her aides Surendra Singh in Baraulia village of the district, wherein, some of the deceased's relatives had indicated that his murder could be a fallout of a political rivalry, including the recently concluded general elections in which Smriti Irani trounced Congress president Rahul Gandhi.
The Amethi MP, who was visibly distraught on seeing Singh's body, had also lent a shoulder to his mortal remains during the last rites.
Smriti Irani is also expected to announce some key schemes aimed towards ensuring amenities in te district. She is also likely to visit a cow shelter home in Musafirkhana.
