Jammu and Kashmir Governor Satya Pal Malik spoke to Republic TV reacting to former state CM Mehbooba Mufti's highly objectionable comment over the pleas challenging Article 35A in Supreme Court.

Creating fear in the region which sees many tense periods, Mufti said that if there was any change in the Article 35A the people of the state will raise other flags than the Tiranga.

Dismissing her threats as an attempt to provocate, Governor Satya Pal Malik said that the PDP chief is free to go to Pakistan if she feels so if she wants to raise other flags.

He also criticised her saying that she is challenging the court by making such statements and is not fit to be a democratic leader if she means her statements. Says she should cross the border over to Pakistan

"I don't react on the comments of Mehbooba Mufti. False rumours are being spread, she is provocating as she knows nothing is going to happen. She is doing it on purpose, they are defunct leaders as their credibility is over. What is the question of raising other flags? Go over across the border and raise their flag. In this region, only the Tiranga is raised. She is welcome to cross the border to raise other flag," he said.

He also reacted to Mufti's comment where she hinted violence saying "fiddling with Article 35A would akin to playing with fire" and warned that violence over the issue saying "repercussions would be so bad that you wouldn’t have imagined since 1947".

"She is talking nonsense, India has seen four wars. Her statements have no standing. With regards to threats of changing flags in the region, the Tiranga will remain here and she is free to cross the border. In this part of the land, there can be no other flag but Tiranga. She should not talk nonsense. She is not fit to be a democratic leader if she talks like this. You are threatening the courts, threatening the country, she does not know what kind of country this is," he said.
