In a first response against the Union Budget presented by Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said that the budget is the election prize. In what may be called as sarcasm, her reaction came after stating that the government has hiked the price.
Taking to Twitter, Trinamool chief Mamata Banerjee claimed that Budget 2019 is completely visionless and that the vision is derailed. She then goes on to claim that the government has imposed cess and aditional excise duty on petrol and diesel leading to increase in price by Rs 2.50/ litre. She then said that commoners are suffering and then added that it "This is Election Prize."
The first full-time woman Finance Minister in her budget speech, proposed measures to ease liquidity crisis facing shadow banking sector (NBFCs) and providing Rs 70,000 crore capital to public sector banks while seeking to raise additional resources through privatisation of some PSUs.
While items like Electric vehicle components, set-top box, Camera module and charger of mobile phones have gone cheaper, things like Electronics and electrical equipment including AC, network, video recorders, loudspeakers, digital video records, CCTV cameras and optical fibres, Imported books among others have been costly.
Meanwhile Congress has also criticised the budget saying that it is bogus. Jyotiraditya Scindia said that budget does not have a content and called the budget session a table thumping gathering. He added that the Budget had nothing on the anticipated job creation. He also added that the governement's plan of a Zero Budget farming is cannot result in doubling of farming incomes.
