4 held for gang-raping Dalit woman in Uttar Pradesh

The accused reportedly forcibly abducted the woman using a car and took her to an abandoned house before gangraping her. All four men have been arrested.

BARBANKI: On Tuesday, police said that four men have been arrested for allegedly gangraping a Dalit woman in the Deva area of Barbanki distrcit in Uttar Pradesh. According to the statement of the victim quoted in a PTI report, the victim was on the way to her parent's house following a fight with her husband when the incident took place. Four men, Mughal Azam alias Riyaz, Ashraf alias Bhure, Shabbu and Islamuddin, approached her, offering a ride. Subsequently, the victim allegedly refused this offer and was forcefully pushed into the back seat of the car being used by the four men before being gagged.

Later, her hands and feet were tied and the group took her to an abandoned house where she was gangraped according to the police. At some point, the victim was able to call her sister-in-law which resulted in the police rescuing her from the spot and nabbing one of the accused in the process. The victim was reportedly dissatisfied with the actions being taken at the police station and so she escalated her complaint to the superintendent of the police. 

Additional Superintendent CN Sinha stated that the medical examination of the victim is now ongoing and all four of the accused have been arrested.
