41-Year-Old Man Commits Suicide In Mumbai Hotel, Names Wife, Aunt in Note

Mumbai: A 41-year-old man allegedly died by suicide at a five-star hotel in Vile Parle East, Mumbai, on February 28. He was reportedly harassed by his wife and her aunt.

According to reports, the deceased, identified as Nishant Tripathi, worked as a senior executive at an animation and live-action content production company.

On February 28, 2025, his body was found hanging in the bathroom of an upscale hotel. He had also left a message on his company's website, accusing his wife and her aunt of harassment.

A case was registered against the man's wife, Apoorva Parik, 36, and her aunt, Prarthana Arya, 50, on March 3.

In a Facebook post, Neelam Chaturvedi, Nishant's mother and a social worker, mourned her son's loss, stating that she felt like "a living corpse."

According to reports, Nishant resided in Virar but moved to Sahara Star due to constant harassment from his wife.

On February 28, he did not place the 'Do Not Disturb' sign on his room’s door. When the hotel staff knocked and received no response, they used their key to enter and discovered his body in the bathroom. He had hanged himself from a hook using a rope.

According to the FIR, a suicide note was recovered on his mobile phone. In the note, he held his wife and her aunt responsible for his death. It read:

"For Apoorva, Hi babe, By the time you read this, I’ll be gone. In my last moments, I could’ve hated you for everything that happened, but I don’t. For this moment, I choose love. I loved you then. I love you now. And as I had promised, it’s not going to fade. My mother knows that, among all the other struggles I faced, you and Prarthana Mausi are also responsible for my death. So, I beg you, don’t approach her now. She’s broken enough."

The police have registered a case under Section 108 (Abetment of Suicide) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita against his wife. An investigation has been launched to determine the exact cause of death.

His postmortem examination was conducted on March 2, and his funeral rites were performed in Santacruz, Mumbai.
