'Your Daughter is Sick': Abhaya's Mother Recounts First Call from RG Kar Hospital

Kolkata: In an interaction with the media, Abhaya's mother has recounted the first call she had got from RG Kar Medical College and Hospital after her daughter's gruesome rape and murder.She said that in the first call, she was told that her daughter was sick and then in the second call, she was told that Abhaya had ‘committed suicide’.‘Your Daughter is Sick’: Abhaya's Mother Recounts First Call from RG Kar HospitalWhile speaking to the news agency ANI, Abhaya's mother recounted the first call that she had got from the RG Kar Medical College and Hospital after her daughter was brutally raped and murdered in the hospital's seminar room. She said that in the first call, she was told that her daughter is sick while in the second call, the authorities said she had committed suicide.In her words, “First we got a call from the hospital that your daughter is sick, then the call was disconnected. After that when I called and asked what happened, they told me to come to the hospital.”She further said, “When we called again, the (caller) identified himself as Assistant Super and said your daughter has committed suicide. Her hand was broken, blood was coming out of her eyes, mouth. Just by looking at her, it seemed that someone had murdered her."She also said, "I told them it is not suicide, it's a murder. One person has been arrested. I am sure many more are involved in this incident. I think the entire department is responsible for the incident... The police did not do a good job at all. I feel that the Chief Minister is trying to stop the protest, today she imposed Section 144 here so that people cannot protest.”
