Nagpur: After Delhi's record-breaking heat at 52.9 degrees Celsius, Nagpur now experienced scorching temperatures exceeding 50 degrees Celsius. On Thursday, the mercury soared to a staggering 56 degrees Celsius.

Two of the four automatic weather stations (AWS) set up by the India Meteorological Department (IMD) in Nagpur recorded unusually high temperatures, surpassing even Delhi's Mungeshwar AWS, which recorded high temperatures the previous day.

The Nagpur AWS, situated in a vast open agriculture field at PDKV in Ramdaspeth, off North Ambazari Road, registered a remarkable 56 degrees Celsius.

Similarly, the AWS at the Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC) in Sonegaon recorded 54 degrees Celsius. In contrast, the AWS at the Central Institute of Cotton Research (CICR) in Khapri and the Ramtek AWS reported relatively lower temperatures of 44 degrees Celsius each.
