After two months of house arrest, NC delegation meets Farooq Abdullah
A15-member delegation of the National Conference met party chief Farooq Abdullah and vice-president Omar Abdullah at their residence in Srinagar on Sunday

After two months a 15-member National Conference (NC) delegation on Sunday met party chief Farooq Abdullah, who has been under house arrest in J&K. This came a day after Jammu and Kashmir government allowed the NC delegation to meet the former CM. News agency ANI released the first visuals of the NC delegation meeting Farooq Abdullah at his residence in Srinagar. Farooq Abdullah's wife Molly also joined the meeting with the NC delegation, which consisted of senior leaders of the party including Hasnain Masoodi and Akbar Lone.

Speaking to news agency ANI after meeting the Abdullahs, NC leader Devender Rana said that both the former J&K CMs - Farooq and Omar Abdullah - are well and in high spirits. He emphasised on the release of the Kashmir leaders, adding that both the leaders are pained by the developments in J&K. The delegation also apprised the leaders about developments after Article 370 abrogation.

Led by NC Jammu provincial president Devender Singh Rana, the delegation flew to Srinagar from Delhi for the meeting with Farooq Abdullah on Sunday morning. The delegation was granted permission to meet the leaders from J&K Governor Satya Pal Malik on Thursday evening.
Leaders to be released soon
In the aftermath of abrogation of Article 370 from Jammu and Kashmir, a number of Kashmiri leaders were put under house arrest. Recently speaking in the matter, Farooq Khan, advisor to Jammu and Kashmir Governor stated that the detained leaders will be released from detention. He said that they will be released after individual analysis of each of them. However, he did not state the exact date of their release. Major Kashmir politicians including former J&K Chief Ministers Mehbooba Mufti, Omar Abdullah, and Farooq Abdullah have been detained in Srinagar since August 5 when the Article 370 was abrogated by the Centre.
