What started as a fun request from his followers, has now turned into a sponsored competition from the Mahindra Group. The Chairman of the Mahindra Group, Anand Mahindra took to Twitter on Friday as he declared an open competition for all the dads in the country and called it ā€˜Dandiya Dadā€™. His tweet from Friday referred to an older tweet where he had asked his followers to help him with Dandiya dance moves. In his latter tweet, he said that he did not like the suggestions and the person who sends him the best video of their dad's playing Dandiya will be sponsored for a four-day trip by Club Mahindra.

Garba Raas in Madagascar

It is not only Anand Mahindra who is excited about the festival but recently, the Gujarati community in Madagascar had also organised Garba and Dandiya nights to celebrate the festival. This comes as a significant number of Gujaratis who are a part of the Indian diaspora in Madagascar as they reside in cities like Antananarivo, Antsiranana, and Mahajunga, since more than a century. A Hindu temple is also under construction in Madagascarā€™s Antananarivo. The construction of this temple, on a 6000 square metres of land, is likely to be completed by the end of this year.
