Anil Shastri, son of former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri, paid tribute to his father on his 115th birth anniversary at Vijay Ghat in Delhi on Wednesday

On the occasion of India's second Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri's 115th birth anniversary, his son, Anil Shastri paid tribute to his father at Vijay Ghat, New Delhi, on Wednesday. Lal Bahadur Shastri was a leader and fighter of the freedom struggle who was the mind behind the 'Jai Jawan, Jai Kisaan'. The former Prime Minister of India had greatly promoted the Green and White revolution and was known to be soft-spoken and humble. He became the Prime Minister of India in June 1964 after the demise of Jawaharlal Nehru.

Leaders extend their wishes on Shastri Jayanti
Numerous political leaders have extended their wishes on Shastri Jayanti marking former PM's birth anniversary. Congress took to Twitter to speak about Lal Bahadur Shastri's contribution to India.

The President of India, Ram Nath Kovind, also tweeted about former PM's courage and simplicity.

The Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis also offered his tribute to the former Prime Minister. He wrote on Twitter, "Offered my humble tributes to Mahatma Gandhi Ji and Lal Bahadur Shastri Ji on their birth anniversary, this morning!"
