In the wake of the alarming levels of air pollution in the national capital which has escalated to the "severe-plus" category, Oscar-winning musician and composer AR Rahman has taken to Twitter to remark on a 'bar' in Delhi that supposedly serves pure oxygen to its customers.

About the Oxygen Bar

The oxygen bar that goes by the name 'Oxy Pure' in Delhi's Saket area offers pure oxygen to its customers in seven different aromas such as lemongrass, orange, cinnamon, spearmint, peppermint, eucalyptus, and lavender. Amid the rising air pollution levels in the city, the bar is said to have witnessed a steep rise in the number of visitors. Customers are of the view that the bar will provide a big relief to elders and children who are more susceptible to the high levels of air pollution.

Reportedly, the bar offers pure oxygen starting at Rs 299 and goes up to Rs 499 for a 15-minute session. Apart from serving flavoured oxygen, the bar also sells portable take away cans of oxygen that can be carried by the customers and use it as per their disposal.

How does it work?

The customers at the bar are required to strap a tube to their nostrils that gives them a breath of oxygenated air with a fragrance of their choice. The air they breathe is generated by an oxygen concentrating machine that purifies the air around it and delivers it to the customer. However, the therapy doesn't help to cure any diseases and is purely for rejuvenation purposes. The concept is more common in countries such as France and Japan. Tokyo houses oxygen bars for dogs too.
