The residents of the village in the upper regions of Tamil Nadu were thrown out of gear by the intense cold and scrambled for the warmer inside, not used to such exceptionally low temperatures.
The people there were reportedly trapped indoors due to the extreme cold.
Ooty in one of the most well-known hill towns in South India, reported a low of 7.5 degrees Celsius.
Huge areas of grasslands in the Nilgiris district resembled a wonderland, with the green grass carpeted in new dew droplets, often known as white frost.
Several parts of the well-known hill station, including Ooty Nagar, Thalikunda, HPF, Kanthal, and Fingerpost, were covered with white frost.
Up to an inch of snow was found on parked vehicles, with residents complaining of experiencing problems trying to fire up their cars.
According to local MeT officials, there has been significant variation in the day and night temperatures in recent weeks, with the maximum temperature hovering over 25 degrees Celsius. (With inputs from ANI)
