Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma condemns the assault on Deputy Speaker Numal Momin by Congress MLA Nurul Huda outside the assembly, calling it a police case

Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has strongly condemned the assault on Deputy Speaker Dr Numal Momin by Congress MLA Nurul Huda outside the assembly, calling it a police case. The Assam Chief Minister not only condemned the attack but also urged Dr Momin to file a complaint to reveal the truth behind the assault incident. Hinting at a larger conspiracy, Himanta Biswa Sarma suggested that investigating the attackers' backgrounds could reveal more crucial issues. He also drew parallels with past incidents in Kokrajhar and Udalguri, implying that such events can incite further violence.
As a massive outage sparked following the attack, Assam CM Himanta's statements carry heavy weight, and his call for a thorough investigation underlines the severity of the situation. The incident has sparked concerns about the safety and security of elected representatives in the state.
Addressing the Assam Assembly, CM Himanta said, "The deputy speaker is assaulted outside the Assembly. It amounts to a police case. So I request you to file a complaint so that the truth can come out. Those people who have assaulted our tribal leader, if I go behind their background it will be more big. So I don’t want to elaborate much because such incidents incited incidents like that in Kokrajhar and Udalguri."
