Ayodhya verdict: AIMPLB's Zafaryab Jilani unsatisfied with judgment
AIMPLB Secretary Zafaryab Jilani who represented the Sunni Central Waqf Board has said that he was not satisfied with the SC verdict on Ayodhya dispute
As the Supreme Court delivered the verdict of Ayodhya land dispute case by handing over the disputed land to Hindus and giving 5 acres of suitable land to Muslims, All India Muslim Personal Law Board secretary and Senior Advocate Zafaryab Jilani who represented the Sunni Central Waqf Board said that he is not satisfied with the SC verdict.
"Not satisfied with the judgement. Will decide the future course of action. We respect the judgement. There should be peace," Senior Advocate Zafaryab Jilani stated.
Pronouncing the landmark judgment in the Ayodhya dispute case, the Supreme Court on Saturday, delivered a unanimous judgment in the title suit of the disputed area awarding it to the Hindu parties for the construction of a temple. It also directed the Centre to come up with a scheme within three months to set up a trust which will hand over the outer courtyard and inner courtyard of the site for construction of a temple. Apart from this, the SC stated that an alternate land of 5 acres is to be allotted to Muslims, either by the central govt or the State govt, in a suitable and prominent place in Ayodhya. CJI Ranjan Gogoi, while delivering the unanimous judgment, dismissed the claims of the Sunni Central Waqf Board and the Nirmohi Akhara. He also termed that the three-way division of the disputed land by the Allahabad HC in its 2010 verdict was wrong.
CJI says onus on government to build temple
The SC bench on Saturday said Hindu litigants were able to establish their case that they were in possession of the outer courtyard whereas the Muslim side was unable to prove their exclusive possession. CJI Ranjan Gogoi said that the Centre has to formulate a scheme under the Ayodhya Act 1993 within 3 months. The Scheme will have a Trust for the management and construction of the temple. The inner courtyard and outer courtyard will be handed over to the Trust. CJI Ranjan Gogoi ruled that Muslim groups will get 5 acres of alternate land.
