Bengal Shocker: 40-Year-Old Doctor Arrested for Raping Patient After Injecting Sedatives

Kolkata: In a horrifying incident a male doctor in his mid-40s was arrested for allegedly raping his 26-year-old female patient in West Bengal's Hasnabad.

The incident occurred after the accused reportedly injected the victim with sedatives to make her unconscious.

The doctor further filmed the sexual assault and then extorted Rs 4 Lakh from her by threatening to release the footage on social media. Furthermore, as per reports, the doctor allegedly continued to sexually assault her multiple times, using the video to blackmail her.

This incident came to light after the victim, accompanied by her husband lodged an FIR earlier this week.

After this, the police officials arrested the doctor. At the time the complaint was filed, the accused was presented at a district court and the public prosecutor had sought his five-day police custody.

District police sources said the next step will be getting the confidential statement of the victim recorded in front of a judicial magistrate.
