Bengaluru Building Collapse: Owner's Son Arrested as Death Toll Hits 6, Many Still Trapped
As per the preliminary reports, the management continued the work amid the heavy rains, which led to the tragedy.

Bengaluru: As many as six people have been killed and many are likely to be trapped after an under-construction building collapsed in the Horamavu Agara area in the eastern part of Bengaluru on Tuesday, October 22, as per Republic Kannada's sources.
The NDRF, SDRF and fire brigade team are at the site as an extensive search operation is underway. Some 17 people have been rescued from the site.
Moreover, the building's owner's son has been arrested.
As per the preliminary reports, the management continued the work amid the heavy rains, which led to the tragedy.
Minister for Urban Development and local MLA Byrathi Suresh also rushed to the spot and monitored the operations.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and his Deputy DK Shivakumar made some personal phone calls to the jurisdictional DCP Devaraj and urged for updates about the incident. The CM and Dy CM were briefed about the tragedy and rescue operations.
Heavy Rain Lashes Bengaluru:
This comes as heavy rain lashed North Bengaluru with several areas flooded in and around Yelahanka. According to the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike, Yelahanka received 157 mm (six inches) of rain in just six hours from Tuesday midnight to Tuesday 6 am.
Due to the waterlogging, normal life was thrown out of gear in Northern Bengaluru. Locals preferred staying indoors, while many passengers missed their flights, trains and buses. Children were not able to go to schools in areas that were flooded.
Many houses in low-lying areas and near lakes were inundated. Household items, vehicles and electronic goods were damaged.
There were severe traffic jams on many important roads. Ballari Road which leads to the Kempegowda International Airport, witnessed chock-a-block for several kilometres.
