Bengaluru Shocker: Father Kills Son Over Mobile Addiction, Brutality Revealed in Autopsy

Bengaluru: In a deeply disturbing incident, a father in Bengaluru brutally killed his 14-year-old son after a violent argument about the teenager’s mobile phone addiction and lack of interest in his studies. The father, Ravi Kumar, a carpenter, became enraged with his son Tejas' disinterest in academics and excessive phone use.The incident took place after a minor disagreement over repairing Tejas’s phone. In a fit of rage, Kumar grabbed a cricket bat and savagely beat his son, then slammed his head against a wall. During the assault, Kumar reportedly told Tejas, “It doesn’t matter to me whether you live or die.”Tejas, a Class 9 student, suffered severe internal injuries and multiple wounds on his body, with the post-mortem confirming the brutal nature of the attack. Despite writhing in pain for several hours from 8 AM to 2 PM, Tejas was not taken to the hospital until after he stopped breathing. He was declared dead upon arrival, said reports.The crime came to light when police were alerted to a suspicious death in the Kumaraswamy Layout area. Upon reaching the family’s home, officers found the boy’s bier prepared and the family seemingly preparing for the last rites. The police then took the body for an autopsy, which revealed the extent of the abuse.The father attempted to cover up by cleaning the bloodstains from the body and hiding the cricket bat used to kill Tejas, likely in an effort to make the death appear accidental.Deputy Commissioner of Police Lokesh B stated that the murder stemmed from ongoing tensions between the parents and the boy over his poor academic performance and alleged bad company. Kumar has been arrested, and the investigation into this horrific crime is underway.
