Bihar Floods: Union Minister RS Prasad visits flood-hit areas in Patna

Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad, on Sunday, visited flood-affected Taranpur village and enquired about the status of relief work by the NDRF and SDRF teams

After Bihar was hit with disastrous floods, Union Minister of Law & Justice and Electronics & Information Technology Ravi Shankar Prasad on Sunday visited the flood-affected areas of Taranpur village in Patna district to monitor the ongoing flood-relief and rescue operations. Prasad who is a sitting MP from the Patna Sahib constituency also interacted with the district administrations and also asked about the status of relief work by the NDRF and SDRF teams.

RS Prasad cancels Dussehra events to visit flood-hit areas

In a tweet on Sunday, Union Minister RS Prasad said that he met the flood-affected people of Taranpur village and also reviewed the work being done by the administration. He enquired about electricity, drinking water facility and food being provided to the affected villagers and also spoke to them to know the difficulties they were facing due to flood water to ensure that they are resolved. Earlier on Saturday, Prasad had announced that he will not attend any of the Dussehra events as he would visit the flood-hit areas in Bihar and spend some time with the people affected. On October 2, he visited the flood-hit Rajendra Nagar area in Bihar.

Bihar Floods

So far the Bihar floods have claimed over 70 lives and triggered acute waterlogging in the state. The State authorities and the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) have so far evacuated over 10,000 citizens from the flood-affected areas in Patna. According to reports, 19 NDRF teams have been sent out for evacuation. Out of the 19 teams, five NDRF teams have been sent to Patna's flood-affected areas. The rescue teams have been working round-clock-to evacuate people to safer places.
