BJP orders party leaders to not speak on Supreme Court's decision on Ayodhya land case: Sources

Moments after the Supreme Court adjourned the disputed Ayodhya land title case till the first week of January, sources have indicated that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has issued a 'diktat', telling all its party leaders not to comment on the decision taken by the apex court. It is also being suggested that the party will issue a guideline, as it does not want its members to take on the judiciary.

Further, soon after the SC's order, it was confirmed that BJP President Amit Shah would attend a meeting of top seers in Kumbh. He will attend the Dharma sansad, which is the apex body of all the sadhus.

In the aftermath of the SC's order, a number of individuals and groups, who were calling for construction of Ram Mandir to start before 2019, have spoken against the apex court's decision. Chief of Bajrang Dal, Vinay Katiyar, accused Congress of having a role behind the decision of the topmost court on this matter. He said:

"This is all happening because of the pressure given by Congress. This is all done by Kapil Sibal. This is an examination of patience of Hindus. When a date was fixed they should have heard the case. but they don't consider this for an urgent hearing where so many people have died. I think this is a time to bring a new 'andolan'. How long will we wait? We want that land of our Lord Ram. Everyone knows that this is the land of Ram. The Congress party will know about this during 2019 elections."

The Supreme Court on Monday adjourned the disputed Ayodhya land title case, and ordered the matter to be listed in the first week of January for fixing a date for hearing. Despite the centre's plea to take up the case after Diwali break, the apex court stated that no urgent date can be given as of now due to other priorities.

The three-judge bench headed by CJI Ranjan Gogoi will now take up the matter in January, and will decide when the apex court will start the hearing on the disputed land title case in Ayodhya.

It came as a setback to those who were hoping for Ram temple to be built before 2019. In September, the SC, then headed by CJI Dipak Misra, pronounced that the matter would not be referred to a larger bench, and that proceedings on this matter will begin on fast-track basis from October 29.
