Blast during religious gathering in Kalamassery, one dead, several injured
String of explosions took place at a Christian centre in Kalamassery, Kerala, around 9.40am on Sunday, leaving one dead and over 30 people injured.
A string of explosions that reportedly took place at a Christian centre in Kalamassery in the Ernakulam district of Kerala around 9:40 am on Sunday near Kalamasery Medical College has left a woman dead and at least over 30 people injured, out of which 10 are critically injured. According to eyewitnesses, three explosions took place consecutively. As per reports, over 2,000 people were present at the Jehovah convention on the third day of the prayer meet, which was taking place at Samra Convention Center. Initial reports reveal that there were three explosions within half an hour.

As per reports, the woman's charred body has been recovered by fire force personnel and the injured people have been admitted to the Government Medical College Hospital. It is also speculated that the casualties might rise.
As of now, the cause of the blast is not ascertained and more details are awaited. NIA team and forensic officials are at the blast site to probe the matter further and look into any terror angle. According to preliminary investigation, low-intensity explosives were used in the blasts.
