Delhi police authorities have confirmed that there was no blast near the Israel embassy
New Delhi: Minutes after Delhi police confirmed that there is no blast in and around the Israel embassy, a letter addressed to the Israeli ambassador was found near the embassy premises in the national capital. Republic TV sources said that the letter was written in Hindi. However, no trace of a blast has been found so far. On Tuesday evening at around 5:43 PM, the Delhi police fire brigade unit had received a call about the blast, immediately thereafter special team along with fire tenders were pressed into service.
“This happened around 5 pm. I was on my duty and heard a loud sound, like that of a bursting tyre. When I came out, I saw smoke coming from the top of a tree, that's all I saw," a witness told teams of police. However, the teams, so far, found no explosive material in and around the embassy premises.
Meanwhile, the Israel Embassy in New Delhi maintained that they heard loud sounds near the embassy. “We can confirm that around 5:10 pm there was a blast at close proximity to the embassy. Delhi Police and the security team are still investigating the situation”, the Israel Embassy said in a statement.
Israel Embassy Blast: Here's What Had Happened
- Delhi Fire Service received a call of a blast near the Israel Embassy in the Chanakyapuri area this evening.
- "So far nothing has been found at the location," says Atul Garg, Director, of Delhi Fire Services.
- Speaking to Reuters, Israeli Embassy spokesperson Guy Nir had confirmed the incident, saying there was a blast at close proximity to the embassy around 5:20 on Tuesday.
- Israel's foreign ministry said all staff were unharmed following the blast.
- Israeli authorities were cooperating with their Indian counterparts to investigate the cause of the explosion.
