On RJD chief Lalu Yadav's statement claiming that the Modi government could fall by August, BJP MP Manoj Tiwari said, "These people do not respect democracy and the Constitution. Waving the Constitution in hand is one thing and respecting the Constitution is another thing. If they had respected the Constitution, they would have accepted the mandate today. NDA is running the government with a full majority and it will complete its term."

The police officials from Mexico underwent a training program at Rashtriya Raksha University in Gujarat's Gandhinagar. Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) Tamil Nadu president Armstrong was hacked to death by an unidentified mob of 6 people near his residence in Chennai's Perambur on Friday evening. The Chennai police officials confirmed the incident saying that the police are searching for the accused. The incident took place in Sembium police jurisdiction. 

Tripura CM Manik Saha on Friday participated in the BJP's organisational meeting in Agartala. Following the meeting, CM Saha tweeted, "To strengthen the Guarantee of Good Governance at the grassroots level, we need elected representatives from the Bharatiya Janata Party in every Panchayat of the state. Rain lashed Jammu & Kashmir's Rajouri today evening

More than 20,000 pilgrims paid obeisance at the Amarnath cave shrine on Friday, taking the number of devotees who have had 'darshan' of the naturally formed ice lingam so far to over 1.50 lakh, officials here said.

The Amarnath Yatra began on June 29 from the twin tracks -- the traditional 48-km Nunwan-Pahalgam route in Anantnag and the 14-km shorter but steeper Baltal route in Ganderbal.

"As many as 21,650 pilgrims performed the yatra on Friday and had darshan of Baba Bholenath on the seventh day of the annual yatra," the officials said.

They said 15,151 male pilgrims, 4,147 female pilgrims, 374 sadhus and two Sadhvis were among those who paid obeisance at the cave shrine.

Over 1,700 security personnel, one transgender person and 275 children also performed the pilgrimage.

A 25-year-old man died after his motorcycle was hit by a tempo near GTB Enclave in Delhi's Shahdara on Friday, police said.

The deceased has been identified as Nishant, they said.

Police said that the tempo driver was apprehended from the spot.

"A PCR call regarding an accident was received at GTB Enclave police station. On reaching the spot it was found that one bike was hit by a tempo. The person driving the bike died at the spot," a senior police officer said.

Police said that the accused driver Saddam (27), was nabbed and an FIR was registered. Investigation into the matter is in progress.

 Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Friday visited several flood-hit areas in Dibrugarh district, including urban town areas, to assess damages caused by breaches in embankments.

Sarma also interacted with people affected by the floods, reassuring them of support through relief efforts and medical facilities.

He started his visit by assessing the urban flood situation in Dibrugarh town, which has been grappling with severe power shortages for the past nine days.

The chief minister was seen walking through the flooded H S Road and Mahalaya Road in the town, engaging with the affected residents.

The town is facing the problem of urban flooding due to clogged drains and with the level of River Brahmaputra flowing above the danger level, there are difficulties in draining out the water, he said.

A writ petition filed in the Madhya Pradesh High Court seeking right to worship for the Jain community at the Bhojshala-Kamal Maula mosque complex in Dhar was withdrawn on Friday on technical grounds.

The petition, filed by Delhi-based social activist Salekchand Jain, claimed that the disputed premises once housed a Jain Gurukul and a Jain temple where idols of Goddess Ambika were installed.

Justice Pranay Verma of the Indore bench of the high court, while hearing the writ petition, orally observed that the petition has neither been submitted in a proper format nor the reason for delay in filing it has been explained.

Jain's lawyers then withdrew the petition and sought the court's permission to file a fresh application in the prescribed format.

President Droupadi Murmu will visit Odisha from July 6 to 9. During her visit, the President will attend an event to mark the 96th death anniversary of Utkalamani Pandit Gopabandhu Das at Bhubaneswar. On July 7, the President will witness the Gundicha Jatra (Car Festival) of Lord Jagannath at Puri. At least 18 people, including the driver, were injured when their loader pickup truck enroute to Sheetla Mata temple in the Kada Dham police station area here overturned, police said on Friday.

Of the injured, six are in critical condition and undergoing treatment at the district hospital, they said. Around 24 devotees, all residents of Sundarai village under Nawabganj police station in Pratapgarh district, were enroute to Sheetla Mata temple in Kada Dham in a loader pickup vehicle when it overturned near Lehdari village at around 11 am, Station House Officer (SHO) Dhirendra Singh said.

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma reviewed the situation in Dibrugarh town, which has been under water and facing severe power shortage for the last eight days. The flood situation in Assam was critical on Friday with nearly 22 lakh people affected and all major rivers flowing above the danger mark. He visited some areas on foot and interacted with the people. "We will be engaging experts and the local residents to find a community-driven solution to the problem of inundation in Dibrugarh town," he said.

A fresh batch of 6,900 pilgrims left for the cave shrine of Amarnath in south Kashmir Himalayas on Friday. The eight batch of pilgrims left the Bhagwati-Nagar Yatri Niwas in 277 vehicles for the twin base camps of Baltal and Palagam at 3.45 am and were escorted by CRPF security personnel.

Union Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi, on recent incidents of bridge collapse in Bihar, said, "It is monsoon time. There has been an abnormal amount of rain, which is the reason behind the collapse of bridges. But, the CM of the state is very sensitive towards the investigation... He did a meeting yesterday and has given strict instructions that strict action should be taken against any kind of negligence..."

The Delhi High Court has issued a notice to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) concerning the bail plea of Arvind Kejriwal, who has been arrested in a CBI case. The court has scheduled the next hearing for July 17.

Heavy rains lashed Shehra in Panchmahal district late on Thursday evening. The Shamlaji highway was waterlogged due to the sudden downpour. The rains that began after 6 pm continued till Thursday night. The highway as well as the Aniyad crossroads were inundated with water due to the heavy rain.

The flood situation in Assam deteriorated further, with six more people losing their lives and over 21 lakh people affected across 29 districts as major rivers continued to surge above danger levels, according to an official bulletin. The Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) said among the six fatalities, four were from Golaghat and one each from Dibrugarh and Charaideo, taking the death toll from this year's floods, landslides, and storms to 62.

The Enforcement Directorate arrested a prominent drug peddler in Punjab on Thursday as part of a drugs-linked money-laundering investigation. Saktar Singh alias Laddi was taken into custody under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) following searches against him and his family members in Tarn Taran district.
