Main Accused Mihir Shah Admits To Driving BMW At Time of Accident

Hours after arrest, during interrogation, Mihir Shah admitted to driving the BMW at the time of the accident.

Mihir Shah to be charged with drunk driving, police reportedly said. His mother and two sisters were brought to Mumbai for questioning from Shahapur in Thane district. They are being quizzed along with 10 others.

Mihir Shah will be presented before Court today.

How Mihir Shah Planned Escape

After the accident, the accused had called his father Rajesh Shah to tell him all about the accident after which the Shiv Sena leader told him to leave the city and that the driver would take the blame.

On reaching Bandra, accused Mihir called up his girlfriend and then took an auto-rickshaw to reach her house in Goregaon; police investigation reveals that on the day of the accident, a total of 40 calls were made between Mihir and his female friend.

The accused slept at her girlfriend's place for two hours and also told her about the accident and death of the woman.

On knowing the entire truth, the girlfriend of the accused called up his elder sister Puja who then went to the girlfriend's house and brought him back to his house in Boriwali; from there, he ran away to Shahpur along with his entire family and a friend.

Mihir, his elder sister Puja, younger sister Kinjal, mother Meena and his friend Avdeep took two cars and went to a resort in Thane; later they went to another resort in Murbad.

On Monday evening, the accused and his friend travelled to Virar Phata and stayed at a resort there while the family lived in the Murbad Resort; Mihir was arrested from here.

How Mumbai Police Arrested Worli Hit-And-Run Case Accused

Mihir Shah, who was untraceable, after allegedly running over a woman with his BMW in Worli has been taken into custody on Tuesday. It took the Mumbai Police three days to catch the accused as Shah, who was reportedly staying at the Shahapur Resort with friends and family, had turned off his mobile phone, making it challenging for authorities to track his whereabouts, sources told Republic world.

Despite initial difficulties in locating Shah due to the phone being switched off, sources revealed that Shah had been communicating with several individuals using a friend’s phone from Palghar and Borivali. Last night, Shah, accompanied by two friends, left Shahapur for Virar without informing his family.

Yesterday, Shah’s friend turned on his mobile phone for just 15 minutes before switching it off again. The phone, which was under police surveillance, allowed authorities to pinpoint Shah's location. The phone’s brief activation was enough for the police to trace it to Virar.

Acting on this information, a team from the Worli Police Station was dispatched to Virar. Upon arrival, they detained Mihir Shah. Simultaneously, the remaining 12 individuals associated with Shah were nabbed at Shahapur.
