Fazilka: In a major crackdown against an arms smuggling racket through the India-Pakistan border using drones, the Border Security Force (BSF) on Saturday recovered a huge cache of pistols after neutralising a drone in Punjab’s Fazilka district. The operation was carried out in the night hours by the security forces near the Indo-Pak border. During the action, 3 pistols along with 7 magazines were recovered from the drone.

A senior BSF official stated, “On July 13th, 2024, during the night hours, vigilant BSF troops on duty intercepted a Pakistani drone intrusion in the border area of Fazilka district. The troops immediately fired on it and activated technical counter-measures to neutralize the illicit drone.”

China-Made Drone Recovered

The BSF tracked the movement of the drone and an extensive search operation by the BSF troops along with SSOC Fazilka was carried out in the anticipated dropping zone.

“The search operation culminated in the recovery of a drone along with a suspected packet at about 5.30 am. The packet was wrapped in yellow colour packing material. A metal ring along with a small plastic torch was also found attached to the packet,” the official said.

Upon opening the packing, 03 pistols and 07 empty pistol magazines were found inside. This recovery took place in a farming field adjacent to the village Maharsona of district Fazilka.

The recovered drone was found to be a China-made drone.

Further probe has been launched in the matter to ascertain the information about the person, who was about to collect the firearms.
