BSF spots Pakistani drones howering over Hussainiwala border in Punjab

The Border Security Force (BSF) personnel at the Hussainiwala border in Ferozepur spotted a drone entering from Pakistan's side on Monday night, as per sources. A search operation regarding the same is reportedly underway. 

"BSF personnel at Hussainiwala border post in Ferozepur spotted a drone on Monday night entered from Pakistan's side to India's side. A search operation is on after BSF informed Punjab police. The local police are investigating the matter," the officials said.

Pakistan drones found in Punjab villages

Earlier on September 24, Punjab police had recovered a half-burnt unmanned vehicle from the Tarn Taran district. The police had stated that the drone was used to drop weapons from Pakistan to fuel unrest in Punjab and adjoining states. The police said the terror group - Khalistan Zindabad Force (KZF) was conspiring to unleash a series of strikes in Punjab and neighbouring states. During the investigation, the accused allegedly revealed to the police that drones were used to airdrop arms and ammunition from Pakistan.

Two days later, on September 26, the Punjab Police recovered another Pakistani drone at a border village in the state. The drone, according to the police, was used to airdrop arms and ammunition in Punjab. It was found in Mahawa village, by Punjab police’s counter-intelligence unit. The police were acting on information given by a terror-accused apprehended by them.

The Home Ministry on October 4, handed over the case to the National Investigation Agency (NIA) for further probing. The drones were allegedly sent by Pakistan to smuggle weapons into India via Punjab. Sources report that the NIA has re-registered the case and a team is currently in Punjab to investigate the same. The issue was previously raised by Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh, asking Home Minister Amit Shah to intervene.

In a similar incident, the Border Security Force of Gujarat on October 5 seized two Pakistani fishing boats while patrolling. The wooden boats were discovered while the BSF was patrolling in the Dafa Creek area. After the BSF captured two Pakistani wooden boats, the Border Security Force officials have been carrying out a wide search operation in the area where the boats were discovered and the other surrounding areas as well.
