Bhadoria stated, “The government representatives must meet the farmers who are protesting near Uttar Pradesh-Delhi borders and fulfil their demands to resolve the issues. If the Government of India can give relief to the corporate sector then why don't they fulfil the small demands of the farmers? Farmers are 'anna datta'(food growers) and if the government will ignore their demands, then how will they survive in remote areas?"

The farmer agitation

The agitating farmers mostly hail from western parts of Uttar Pradesh. They have gathered at the Ghazipur border currently. The plan is to march up to Kisan Ghat, the memorial of renowned farmer leader and former PM Chaudhary Charan Singh, which is located in heart of the national capital. The authorities have tried to thwart these attempts by putting up barricades and increasing security in the area bordering east Delhi. The demands of the farmers include payment of sugarcane crop dues, full loan waivers and granting provision of free electricity. Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra also questioned the Centre’s move to block the entry of the protestors.
