Cabinet approves Khowai-Harina road project for seamless link among Tripura, Assam & Meghalaya

It will also enhance connectivity to Bangaldesh through Kailashahar, Kamalpur and Khowai Border checkpost.

Tripura: Union Cabinet today approved the Rs 2486.78 crore Khowai-Harina road improvement and widening project involving a stretch of 135 km in Tripura. 

The project involves investment of Rs 2,486.78 Crore which includes a loan component of Rs 1,511.70 crore, said Press Information Bureau. 

The loan assistance will be from  Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) under ODA scheme, added PIB.

Taking to X, Shah announced, “Pacing up PM Narendra Modi Ji's plan to develop world-class connectivity in the Northeast, the Union Cabinet today approved the ₹2486.78 crore Khowai-Harina road improvement and widening project involving a stretch of 135 km.”

He added, “The project will provide seamless connectivity among the states of Tripura, Assam and Meghalaya and reduce travel time by half. Gratitude to Modi Ji for the giant stride in the development of the Northeast.”

The development will hugely benefit the Northeastern state as it will provide better road connectivity between various parts of Tripura. 

It will provide alternative access to Assam and Meghalaya.

It will also enhance connectivity to Bangaldesh through Kailashahar, Kamalpur and Khowai Border checkpost.
