Shortly after Cafe Coffee Day founder VG Siddhartha went missing from Mangaluru on Monday night, his driver, who has been working with him for three years now, gave his statement to the police.

Shortly after Cafe Coffee Day founder VG Siddhartha went missing from Mangaluru on Monday night, his driver, who has been working with him for three years now, gave his statement to the police. In the statement, the driver said that on the way to Mangaluru, VG Siddhartha asked him to stop the car at a bridge on the Kerala highway from where he said he will take a walk and come. He asked the driver to sit in the car itself, however after hours of waiting when he called Siddhartha his phone came off. The driver later said that he called his (Siddhartha) son after which he filed a complaint with police.
"I've been driving with Siddhartha for the last 3 years. I went to his Bangalore residence at 8 am and then to Vittal Mallya office and back home at 11 am. At 12:30, he said drive towards Sakleshpur. I was driving an Innova. He then said drive towards Mangalore. When I was entering the main Mangalore circle he said to take a left and asked to go to the site. We reached Kerala highway and drove for 3-4 kms. He asked me to stop at a bridge and said be at the end of the bridge and he'll walk and come. Then I got down from the car, he asked me to sit inside the car and drive to the other side of the bridge. At 8 pm, when I called him his phone was off. Then I called his son and he said he'll call him too. Later I filed a complaint," the driver said speaking in the matter.
Cafe Coffee Day Founder goes missing
Siddhartha is the son-in-law of former Karnataka Chief Minister SM Krishna and was last seen near the Netravati River in Mangalore. Apart from founding the largest coffee chain, he is also the founder of hospitality chain which runs a seven-star resort Serai and Cicada.
Meanwhile, the Police Commissioner has informed that search operation is underway and a dog squad is being used for the job.
