Captured Pakistan intruder handed over to police in RS Pura in Jammu

According to officials, a 41-year-old Pakistani national who was arrested by the Border Security Forces personnel is now handed to police in RS Pura in Jammu.

According to officials, a 41-year-old Pakistani national who was arrested by Border Security Forces personnel along the International Border was handed over to the police in RS Pura sector, on Tuesday.  

Arrested after spotted near border

The arrest was made when Hasnain Farooq, a resident of Goharpur village of Sialkot in Pakistan's Punjab, was trying to sneak into this side from across the border Monday evening. According to the officials, he was noticed moving near the fence in the Nawa Pind border outpost area of R S Pura around 7.15 pm after which, he was arrested.

Upon investigation, no incriminating material was recovered from the possession of the intruder. Further, while questioning, he claimed he worked as a salesman at a shop in Sialkot and wanted to come to this side for a better living. After questioning by the BSF and other security agencies, he was arrested and handed over to R S Pura police in the morning for further questioning and necessary legal action.

Interestingly, in the last 17 days, this is the third Pakistani intruder to be arrested along the Indo-Pak border in Jammu. Earlier, a Pakistani teenager was arrested in Akhnoor sector of Jammu on October 3 and another Pakistani national was nabbed from Chandu Chak village of R S Pura on September 21. "The exercise has been launched along the IB in the Jammu frontier area to detect cross-border, underground tunnel," a senior BSF officer said.

On a related note, the Border Security Force (BSF) recently launched a massive operation along the 180-km International Border (IB) with Pakistan to detect underground, cross-border tunnels in view of possible infiltration attempts by terrorists into Jammu and Kashmir. The operation that is armed with modern tools and equipment, began with clearing bushes and digging and tilling the land close to the three-tier border fencing up to the Zero Line with Pakistan.
