Chandrayaan 2 LIVE Updates: MSME Ministry reveals its key contribution
Ahead of the lunar landing of Chandrayaan 2, the MSME Ministry recalled its own contribution towards this mission. CTTC and IDEMI had created key components.

Just as Chandrayaan 2 India’s Second Lunar Mission is all set to land on the Moon on September 7, the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) recalled its own contribution to the Mission on Friday. Writing on the microblogging website Twitter, it opined that India was on the way to create history. It also revealed that the Central Tool Room & Training Centre (CTTC) in Bhubaneswar and Institute for Design of Electrical Measuring Instruments (IDEMI) in Mumbai developed important parts of the launch vehicle of the Chandrayaan 2 mission. These organizations function under the aegis of the MSME Ministry.

The contribution of CTTC and IDEMI
For the GSLV MK III Launch Vehicle, the CTTC developed and manufactured different types of flow control valves, sensors, regulators that control the movement of liquid fuel from the fuel tank for combustion. It has not only manufactured six types of inertial and navigational assemblies but also fitted flow control valves, sensors, and regulators in the Lunar Orbiter. Moreover, it has manufactured some of the components of the wheel mechanism of the Moon Lander to facilitate soft-landing on the Moon. Similarly, the IDEMI has created vital components in the CE20 (Cryogenic) engine utilized in the Launch Vehicle, carrying Chandrayaan 2. Furthermore, it has developed C-axis Electrode Discharge Machining (EDM) by designing special electrodes.

India's Second Moon Mission is estimated to land on the surface of the Moon on September 7. Unlike other Moon Missions, Chandrayaan 2 is a more challenging one because of the fact that it is going to land in the rugged territory. If it is successful, India will become the fourth country after the United States of America, Russia and, China to achieve a soft-landing on the Moon. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will watch the Chandrayaan 2 lunar landing live from the control room of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) in Bengaluru.
