School children who had arrived at the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh expressed their delight following the successful launch of Chandrayaan 3 into orbit. 

"I feel very proud that our scientists and country are doing so good. It was a once-in-a-lifetime experience and I will never get to witness something like this again," says a student Karan Tiwari 

"I feel very proud of my country. I am very happy and excited..," says another student, Snehal

Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh spoke about the launch of Chandrayaan 3 and said, "We are statistically better from other countries, as other countries were not succeed in first attempt."

He added, "This mission is a tribute to the founding fathers of ISRO, Vikram Sarabhai." 

Singh said, "This mission is happening at a time when we are entering 25 years of Amrit Kaal. The entire mission is totally indigenous, living up to the mantra of Atmanirbhar Bharat."

After Chandrayaan 3's successful launch into orbit, Union Minister Jitendra Singh said, "...This is also a vindication of the dream seen by the founding fathers of ISRO, Vikram Sarabhai and others who were constrained of resources but they had confidence in abundance...This is also a befitting tribute to Vikram Sarabhai and happening at a time when we are entering 25 years of Amrit Kaal. ISRO chief S Somanath spoke on launch of Chandrayaan 3 and said, "If everything goes normal then landing on the moon is expected on August 23rd at around 5.47pm IST."

Former ISRO scientist T Mishra spoke exclusively to Republic Media Network. He said, "I would like to congratulate the team ISRO for the successful of the Chandrayaan-3 but still a long way to go for the next 40 days".

Former ISRO scientist Nambi Narayanan congratulated on the successful launch. " The first phase is successful now we have to wait for the second phase and wait for the next 43 days. Till then so far so good. I would like to congratulate the ISRO team. The moral support you all gave and the enthusiasm you exhibited," he said.

President Droupadi Murmu took to Twitter and congratulated ISRO team including everyone behind Chandrayaan-3 mission,

In a major milestone in the Indian space trajectory that will go down as an unprecedented achievement in the country’s space history, the highly anticipated Chandrayaan-3 was successfully launched today (July 14) from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh at 2.35 pm. As a follow-on to the Chandrayaan 2 launch on July 22, 2019, which successfully launched the orbiter, the Chandrayaan 3 is launched with the objective of doing a soft landing on the south pole of the lunar surface. Chandrayaan-3, India’s third lunar exploration mission, will make India the fourth country after US, China, and Russia, to land its spacecraft on the surface of the moon and demonstrate the country’s abilities for safe and soft landing on lunar surface.

The third stage of the LVM3 rocket has ignited, ISRO confirmed. This stage uses cryogenic fuel and has a complicted ignition process. Chandrayaan 3 is currently at 210 km altitude.

The Payload fairing separated at 195 seconds into launch. Chandrayaan 3 is now exposed to space at 135 km.

PM Modi, who embarked on his France journey on July 13 to attend the annual Bastille Day Parade as a guest of honour, lauded the efforts of scientists at the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) for reviving India's lunar mission dream. Technicians and students at the Central Tool Room and Training Center (CTTC) here are equally anxious to see the successful soft landing of the vehicle on the moon's surface. The members of the CTTC, Bhubaneswar, are anxious as this institute has supplied critical components for the mission. “We are anxious and feel like a student waiting for the examination results. We are highly optimistic that this time India would make history,” said L Rajasekhar, general manager of CTTC Bhubaneswar.

ISRO will start the LIVE webcast for Chandrayaan-3 around 30 minutes before its liftoff, i.e., at 2 pm at ISRO's official YouTube channel. In addition to this, the space agency will also stream the launch on its official website and its official Facebook handle. 

Viewers can also tune in to Republic TV and its YouTube platform, while all the updates of the mission will be available on Republic World.

As India is all set to create history with its moon mission, renowned sand artist Sudarsan Pattnaik has come out with his latest artwork to wish luck to the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) for its lunar mission, Chandrayaan-3. Navigation, Guidance & Control (NGC): Powered Descent Trajectory design and associate software elements

Hazard Detection and Avoidance: Lander Hazard Detection & Avoidance Camera and Processing Algorithm

Landing Leg Mechanism.

Terrain Mapping Camera 2 (TMC 2): Miniature version of the Chandrayaan 1's camera, mapping lunar surface with high resolution.

Large Area Soft X-ray Spectrometer (CLASS): Measures X-ray fluorescence spectra to detect major elements on the Moon.

Solar X-ray Monitor (XSM): Observes and measures solar X-rays emitted by the Sun and its corona, supporting CLASS.

Chandrayaan 2 Atmospheric Compositional Explorer 2 (CHACE 2): Studies the composition and distribution of the lunar neutral exosphere.

Orbiter High-Resolution Camera (OHRC): Provides high-resolution images of the landing site for safe touchdown and scientific research.

Dual-Frequency Synthetic Aperture Radar (DFSAR): Maps lunar surface in polar regions, estimates water-ice content and regolith thickness.

Lunar Laser Ranging Instrument (LLRI): Measures distance between the spacecraft and the lunar surface using laser beams.

Dual Frequency Radio Science (DFRS): Studies the temporal evolution of electron density in the lunar ionosphere.

Imaging IR Spectrometer (IIRS): Maps Moon's mineralogical and volatile composition and characterises water/hydroxyl features.

Rover Payloads: ( Weight 26kg)

1. Laser Induced Breakdown Spectroscopy (LIBS) - Analyse elemental composition of lunar soil.

2. Alpha Particle X-ray Spectrometer (APXS) - Determine elemental composition of lunar soil and rocks.

Lander Payloads:

1. Radio Anatomy of Moon Bound Hypersensitive ionosphere and Atmosphere (RAMBHA) - Langmuir probe (LP) to measure plasma density.

2. Chandra's Surface Thermophysical Experiment (ChaSTE) - Measure thermal properties of lunar surface.

3. Instrument for Lunar Seismic Activity (ILSA) - Measure lunar seismicity and study crust and mantle structure.

4. Laser Retroreflector Array (LRA) - Passive experiment to study dynamics of the Moon system.

The lander is also generally box-shaped (200 x 200 x 116.6 cm), with four landing legs and four landing thrusters. It has a mass of 1749.86 kg,

Propulsion Module: 2148 kg

Lander Module: 1752 kg including Rover of 26 kg

Total: 3900 kg

Launch Vehicle: LVM3-M4, It will place Chandrayaan 3 into an approximately 170 x 36,500 km elliptic parking orbit.

Launch Date: July 14, 2023

Mission Duration: 14 days
