Chinese People's Liberation Army transgresses into Indian Territory in Arunachal Pradesh, later moves back. Details here

The Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) transgressed into Indian territory very recently. The transgression took place in Upper Dibang Valley of Arunachal Pradesh a few kilometers away from Anini. Sources living close to the border have confirmed that the incident took place on September 22. 

A small detachment of the PLA moved into Indian territory in Arunachal Pradesh and was first spotted by the local hunters in the Dibang Wildlife Sanctuary. The local hunters confronted the PLA soldiers and immediately alerted the Indian Army post nearby.  Acting on the reports, Indian soldiers rushed to the spot and confronted their Chinese counterparts. A standoff between the Indian soldiers and the PLA continued for a few hours, however, soon after the PLA troops admitted their mistake and moved back. 

Meanwhile, top Indian Army sources at Dinjan Base in Dibrugarh have confirmed that it was a ‘transgression and not intrusion’. The same happened following a difference in perception of the Line of Actual Control.

However, this is not the first time such transgression has taken place in Arunachal Pradesh. Earlier, last year in the summer a similar transgression was also reported from Tuting area of the frontier State, where People's Liberation Army along with the labours tried to construct a road in the Indian territory. However, timely intervention by the Indian forces averted any further violation of the border. Similarly in September 2016, Chinese army violated the border demarcation and moved around 45 kilometres inside the Indian territory in Anjaw district of Arunachal Pradesh, which necessitated a Flag Meeting between the two countries. 

It may be mentioned that the Indo-China border, especially in Arunachal Pradesh doesn't have any fence or proper border pillars along the entire border to demarcate the international border physically. As a result, confusion often leads to such transgression by both countries. Similar incidents also keep happening in the riverine area along the Indo-Bangladesh border. 

Meanwhile, soon after the transgression, there are also reports of movement of Indian Army in the area, however, these reports are from independent sources and are not verified.
