In an extraordinary incident, a 32-year-old impersonated as an 81-year-old man for travelling from India to New York by using fake passport. The man was apprehended by CISF personnel at the Delhi airport for impersonating as an octogenarian passenger on Monday. He had dyed his hair and arrived on a wheelchair to board the flight.

The officials identified him as Jayesh Patel, a resident of Ahmedabad, who had coloured his hair and beard white and arrived on a wheelchair to board a flight to New York from the Indira Gandhi International Airport on Sunday. He had allegedly used a fake passport under the name of 81-year-old Amrik Singh. Taking to Twitter, the CISF posted the development on social media.

Speaking in the matter, the CISF officials stated that the passenger looked suspicious to Central Industrial Security Force officials when they were doing the frisking duty when he expressed his inability to stand up from the wheelchair. They added that he was avoiding eye contact with the officials during the checks as well which made them suspicious of the man. They later put the man through multiple detailed check, after which his original identity came into the light. The officials stated that the appearance and skin texture of the man appeared to be younger than what was mentioned in his passport, which boasted his age at 81 years.

"The appearance and skin texture of the passenger seemed to be much younger than mentioned in the passport. The man was wearing zero-power glasses to conceal his age," the CISF official said.

As per the officials, the man was immediately handed over to immigration officials on charges of impersonation and a probe is underway.

"He was later handed over to immigration officials on charges of impersonation and further probe. A probe is on to know as to why he was undertaking this illegal act," a senior CISF officer said.
