CNG, PNG Get Expensive in Mumbai From Midnight | Check Latest Rates
Decision taken to meet the increasing volume of CNG and domestic PNG segments, MGL said.
Mumbai: Mahanagar Gas Ltd (MGL), the city gas distribution company based in Mumbai, has announced price hikes for compressed natural gas (CNG) and domestic piped natural gas (PNG).
The natural gas company has increased prices of CNG by Rs 1.5 per KG, while domestic PNG has been increased by Rs 1/standard cubic meter (SCM).
Revised Rates to be implemented from Midnight
With the implementation of price revision, CNG will be made available at Rs 75 per Kg while Rs 48 per standard cubic meter (SCM) will be charged for PNG. The revised rates will be effective midnight on July 8, 2024.
Mahanagar Gas Ltd (MGL) said that a decision has been taken to meet the increasing volume of CNG and domestic PNG segments adding that there is a further shortfall in domestic gas allocation.
“MGL is sourcing additional market-priced natural gas (imported RLNG) which has resulted in higher gas cost," the company said in a press statement.
MGL said that it is still offering a better pricing for its CNG and PNG customers even after the revision.
"Even after the above revision, MGL's CNG offers attractive savings of about 50 percent and 17 percent as compared to petrol and diesel, respectively, at current price levels in Mumbai, while MGL's domestic PNG continues delivering unmatched convenience, safety, reliability and environmental friendliness to consumers," the company said.
Notably, Indraprastha Gas Limited (IGL) and Gujarat Gas also hiked CNG prices recently.
