The Jharkhand government has announced that all schools in the state will remain closed for students from kindergarten to class 8 due to the ongoing cold wave.
Ranchi: The Jharkhand government has announced that all schools in the state will remain closed for students from kindergarten to class 8 due to the ongoing cold wave. The closure will be effective from January 7 to 13. Notably, the cold wave has led to chilly weather across Jharkhand with the lowest minimum temperatures recorded at 5.3 degrees Celsius in Khunti.
According to a notification issued by the School Education and Literacy Department on Saturday evening, the suspension of classes will apply to all types of schools, including government, aided, minority, and private institutions. The decision has come up in the wake of the continuing cold wave conditions, with temperatures in some areas dropping below 6 degrees Celsius.
However, the department has confirmed that classes for students in grades 9 to 12 will continue as scheduled.
The cold wave has led to chilly weather across Jharkhand, with the lowest minimum temperature recorded at 5.3 degrees Celsius in Khunti. The state is expected to continue experiencing dry and cold conditions in the coming days.
Meanwhile, the residents have also been advised to take utmost care to save themselves from the chilling cold waves.
