Congress MP and leader in the Lok Sabha Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury after attacking the Modi government over the Kulgam labourers killings by terrorists, has now written a letter requesting the Prime Minister to send an all-party delegation to the Kashmir valley to assess the situation. This comes after Chowdhury wrote a letter to the Home Minister seeking increased security for non-locals in Kashmir. He has also asked the Centre to start a helpline so that victims can communicate with their families.

Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury’s letter to the Prime Minister

Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury in the letter to the PM wrote, “Respected Shri Narendra Modi ji. This is in connection with the unfortunate incident that took place yesterday in the valley where 5 innocent countrymen were ambushed by terrorists. All the deceased persons are from Bengal and from my home District Murshidabad. I have already written to the Hon’ble Home Minister in detail and suggested certain measures that can be taken in this connection, a copy of the said letter is annexed here for your ready reference. I would urge before you Sir to consider my suggestion to send an all-party delegation to the valley to assess the situation there. And also, I urge your good office further to extend financial support to victims' families from your relief fund.”

Speaking about the labourers that were killed in Kashmir by terrorists on Tuesday night, the Congress leader questioned the forces and said, “We have lakhs of troops commissioned in the Kashmir valley, even after their presence in the valley, so many innocent laborers were abducted and shot. What is the need of so many troops if these innocent lives cannot be saved? This means the promises made by Modi are false. I think they should start a helpline so that the afflicted victims can communicate with their families easily”.

The Congress MP also spoke about the visit of European members of parliament to Kashmir valley. He said, “In August, within the Parliament, it was promised that everyone would be given security in Jammu and Kashmir. They (ruling govt) promised that terrorism will be eradicated from the Kashmir valley. What is Modiji doing now? He is bringing European MP’s to India on rent. Why is this? This is to show the world that all the criticism that India gets from the outside world for imposing a blockade in Kashmir is false and there is no problem in Jammu and Kashmir. These MPs are now going around Kashmir like tourists, they are visiting Dal Lake and having lavish meals in the valley. All this is being perpetrated to show the world that Kashmir is normal and there is no problem there.”
