In a massive expose, Republic Media Network accessed a document bearing the alleged signature of NCP leader Praful Patel on a deal with those linked to Dawood's aide Iqbal Mirchi. Sushilkumar Shinde, a leader of NCP's ally in the upcoming assembly elections Congress party, was confronted over the sensational newsbreak. However, he chose to distance himself from the development. On being questioned about the alleged links between NCP leader Praful Patel and Dawood's aide Iqbal Mirchi, he said that he does not want to answer any question.
"I don't know. I am in a meeting now. I do not want to answer anything," said Congress leader Sushilkumar Shinde evading the questions on the development.

The document accessed in the case clearly shows the name ' Praful Manoharbhai Patel' on the document and names 'Asif Iqbal Memon', 'Hajra Iqbal Memon' and 'Junaid Iqbal Memon', all linked to Iqbal Mirchi. The accessed documents appear to be a Deed of Confirmation between the NCP leader and those linked to Dawood's aide in connection with part of the Ceejay House property of Millenium Developers in Worli, Mumbai. The document unmasked the alleged link between NCP's top leader Praful Patel and Dawood-aide Iqbal Mirchi, ahead of the crucial assembly elections in Maharashtra.
ED probes Mirchi family's laundering
This development has come to light tow days after Republic TV accessed document indicating that prima facie there is a clear link between the international drug dealer and NCP leader Praful Patel’s family. ED has carried out an investigation which revealed that Mirchi gained various properties in India and overseas. Notably, ED identified several properties in Mumbai “beneficially owned by Mirchi and his family member”. Two of the properties in Mumbai were sold to M/s Sublink Realtors Pvt Ltd and M/s Millennium Developers Pvt Ltd “through dubious means of sale proceeds which were eventually laundered.”
Maharashtra Assembly polls
Meanwhile, Maharashtra, which has 288 Assembly seats, will go to polls on October 21 will be held in a single-phase, along with Haryana state. The counting procedure would be conducted on October 24.
