Moments after MoS MEA MJ Akbar issued his statement rubbishing all the sexual harassment allegations against him, calling them to be ‘false and fabricated’’, senior Congress party leader Salman Khurshid has launched a scathing attack on MJ Akbar and the ruling government over their ‘interesting intransigence’ in the #MeToo movement. Former Cabinet Minister of MEA, Salman Khurshid took it to his Twitter account to raise a number of questions over the unclear stance of the ruling government on the allegations against MJ Akbar in the wake of the #MeToo movement. From the ‘fear of getting the floodgates opened’ to a ‘defence of ideology’, here are the questions raised by him against the ruling government:
While BJP is still not speaking up for MJ Akbar’s resignation, Salman Khurshid seeks the answer to whether the ruling government fears that the floodgates will open or is protesting their government is more important for them rather than protecting the daughters. Following this tweet, Salman Khurshid has called out the BJP-led government in a series of scathing words:
Furthermore, National Spokesperson of Congress, Priyanka Chaturvedi posted her statement on her Twitter account in which she slammed MJ Akbar’s declaration of calling the sexual harassment allegations a ‘political conspiracy’. She later, went onto dissent with the ‘government is actively protecting and promoting the sexual perverts’ statement.
While Akbar on Sunday in his official statement had stated his intention to take a legal action against those who have accused him of sexual harassment, he is far from quitting from his position.

Akbar is likely to meet his ministry's senior minister Sushma Swaraj later in the day. He had been called out by as many as 13 women --a number of whom are known journalists -- who took to social media and other forms of media to let the country know about the alleged harassment they had faced by the present Minister of State for External Affairs when he was working as a journalist. Following all the allegations against the MoS for External Affairs, MJ Akbar's position was under the scrutiny.
