COVID-19: Children, elderly contribute to relief efforts

Even as the country is ramping up its efforts to curb the spread of coronavirus, heartwarming stories of children and senior citizens wanting to do their bit have emerged in Madhya Pradesh. While a 14-year-old boy in Bhind district donated Rs 2,280 from his piggy bank to the Chief Minister's Relief Fund, a 63-year-old woman from Khilchipur town in Rajgarh, contributed her earnings to the Prime Minister's Relief Fund.

"Harsh, a resident of Halwai police station area of Bhind, donated Rs 2,280 from his piggy bank to the CM Relief Fund to help people affected by the COVID-19 lockdown," Bhind's district collector Chhotay Singh said in a tweet on Friday.

Senior citizens have also stepped in to help out in this time of crisis. Sushila Devi, a resident of Khilchipur town in Rajgarh district, suffers from paralysis, but it has not deterred her from making a generous contribution to the Prime Minister's Relief Fund, an official from the Madhya Pradesh police headquarters said. Devi donated 21 towels and Rs 5,551 for the PM Relief Fund to the local police, he said.
