In a shocking spate of violence, BSP leader Haji Ahsan and his nephew Shadab were shot dead in his Najibababad office at Uttar Pradesh's Bijnor on Tuesday at 3 PM, by unidentified assailants.

Talking to ANI, an additional SP of Uttar Pradesh police informed that based on initial reports, the murder appears to be done by some enemies of the victim. Further investigation is currently underway.

Former Bulandshahr MP Kamlesh Balmiki Found Dead At His Residence In Uttar Pradesh's Khurja; Police Suspect Poisoning

Earlier on Monday, former Bulandshahr MP and Samajwadi party leader, Kamlesh Balmiki (52) had been found dead at his Khurja residence on Monday by the police, according to PTI. Balmiki's nephew, Lalit had alerted the police about his uncle's demise in the afternoon, a senior police official said talking to PTI.

"The house was bolted from inside. It was somehow opened by four members of the family The iron gate of the room, where Balmiki's body was found, was also locked from inside and the family members had to open that as well," Khurja Circle Officer Gopal Singh said.

While the body has been taken into custody and the police suspect it to be a case of poisoning and await the post-mortem report to ascertain the exact cause of death.

Balmiki had won the 2009 Lok Sabha election from the Bulandshahr (reserved) constituency and served as a member of the Committee on Food, Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution in the 15th Lok Sabha.

In a trend of post-poll violence, on Saturday, Amethi MP Smriti Irani's aide, 50-year-old Surendra Singh who was a former head of the Baraulia village was shot at around 11:30 pm. He was immediately rushed to a Lucknow hospital but succumbed during treatment, as per Additional Superintendent of Police Daya Ram.

On Monday, Uttar Pradesh DGP OP Singh said that they have arrested three accused and have recovered the pistol used in the murder.
