Budaun: In a shocking incident of possible honour killing in Uttar Pradesh, a father reportedly took the lives of his daughter and her lover after discovering their romantic involvement, as confirmed by an officer on Tuesday. Allegedly wielding a blood-stained shovel, the man walked into a local police station, prompting a shocking revelation of the gruesome event.

The victims were identified as Sachin, 20, from Parauli village, and Neetu, 20, the daughter of Mahesh, residing in the same village. Their relationship, spanning two years, was known to their families, who strongly disapproved. Sources within the police department indicated the strong possibility of this being an honour killing, reflecting familial opposition to the relationship. Neighbours confirmed that the families were aware of the affair and they made persistent attempts to halt the relationship, all to no avail.

The tragic incident unfolded early Tuesday morning when Sachin and Neetu were seated at Neetu's doorstep. Around 4:30 AM, commotion roused Neetu's family, leading to a collective assault on the couple. Following a severe beating, Neetu's father, Mahesh, allegedly struck them both with a shovel just steps away from the house, according to Senior Superintendent of Police OP Singh.

Amidst the aftermath, while other members of Neetu's family absconded, the father Mahesh voluntarily entered the Bilsi Police Station, ready to surrender. A murder case has been filed against the father based on the complaint lodged by the boy's family. The bodies have been sent for post-mortem examinations.
