Haryana: SIT to investigate sexual harassment allegations on varsity professor
The SIT initiated an inquiry after an anonymous letter accusing the professor of sexually harassing many female students surfaced.
Sirsa: A special investigation team (SIT) has been formed by the Haryana police to probe the allegations against a professor of a university in Sirsa district. The latest inquiry has been initiated after an anonymous letter accusing the professor of sexually harassing many female students.
The allegations in the anonymous letter have been made against a professor of Chaudhary Devi Lal University, reported news agency PTI. Reportedly, it was alleged in the letter that the professor touched the students inappropriately.
Superintendent of Police (Sirsa), Vikrant Bhushan said, "The moment this letter came in the media, we started an inquiry in the said anonymous complaint," quoted the news agency.
The police official further added that a SIT has been constituted under the leadership of Assistant SP, Sirsa, Deepti Garg and including three women inspectors.
After the set up of the SIT, the investigating team visited the premises of the university and conducted an inquiry. The police official said that based on the report presented by the SIT team, further course of action will be taken.
