Uttarakhand: DG instructs close watch ahead of Ayodhya verdict
The Director-General (Law&Order) of Uttarakhand has informed the 13 districts police forces to keep a close watch on 'undesirable elements' & 'sensitive places'
Ahead of the Ayodhya case verdict, the Director-General (Law&Order) of Uttarakhand on November 8, has informed all the 13 districts' police forces to keep a close watch on 'undesirable elements' and also on 'sensitive places.' They have also asked the forces to maintain strict vigil in Dehradun, Haridwar, Udhamsinghnagar, and Nainital. The Supreme Court is all set to deliver its much-awaited verdict in the Ayodhya title suit case on Saturday at 10.30 am.
Section 144 imposed in UP & Jammu
Ahead of the verdict, Section 144 of The Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC) against unlawful assembly imposed across the entire state of Uttar Pradesh. Similarly, Section 144 will be imposed in all districts of Jammu till further orders on the midnight of November 9. All the schools and colleges will be closed on the day of the verdict. The Aligarh District Magistrate (DM), Chandra Bhushan Singh has announced, "All mobile internet services to remain suspended from 12 AM (08.11.2019) to 12 AM (09.11.2019) in the entire district."
Security tightened
The security in Ayodhya has been beefed up. So far, 18,000 state police personnel, 3,000 state Rapid Action Force staff, and 4,000 Central troops have been deployed in Ayodhya to maintain law and order. Sources suggest that the forces have been directed by the Uttar Pradesh government to ensure that nobody is allowed to spread any communal message, including political and religious leaders within the State. The Uttar Pradesh Government ahead of the verdict has declared that all schools, colleges, and training centres will be shut from November 9 to November 11.
