Bringing heavy rain and winds ranging up to a speed of at least 120 km per hour, Cyclone Bulbul weakened at around 5.30 am as per the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD). In its latest bulletin, the IMD noted that the cyclone would move towards Bangladesh and would weaken into a deep depression. According to reports, two people were killed in rain-related incidents in Odisha and WB. A number of precautions have been taken at the ground level. For instance, all schools, colleges and Anganwadi centres in WB have been closed, while more than 1.2 lakh people have been evacuated from the coastal areas. On Sunday, Banerjee announced that she was putting off her visit to north Bengal. Instead, she declared that she would conduct an aerial survey of some of the affected areas.
