Cyclone Maha to weaken into depression, Cyclone Bulbul to intensify
The 'severe' cyclone Maha that is currently over the Arabian Sea is likely to weaken into a depression by Thursday evening, while Cyclone Bulbul to intensify.
The 'severe' cyclone Maha that is currently over the Arabian Sea is likely to weaken into a depression by Thursday evening, stated the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD). Along with it, the IMD stated that Cyclone Bulbul that is currently over the Bay of Bengal is likely to intensify into a severe cyclonic storm in the next 24 hours.
About Cyclone Maha
In the IMD bulletin released on Thursday, it has been mentioned that "Cyclone Maha is very likely to move east-northeastwards, weaken further into a Deep Depression by the morning of tomorrow, the 7th November, over northeast & adjoining east-central Arabian Sea. It is very likely to skirt Saurashtra coast and lie centered about 40 km south of Diu around noon of 7th November as a Deep Depression. Continuing to move east northeastwards, It is very likely to weaken further into a depression by tomorrow evening." Further, in the view of the Cyclone Maha weakening into depression, the bulletin stated that, "Heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places is very likely over Gujarat region & Saurashtra coasts during next 48 hours and isolated heavy falls likely over Jammu & Kashmir during next 48 hours and over Himachal Pradesh and Punjab on 7th."
Along with it, according to the weather forecasting agency, heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely over Bhavnagar, Surat, Bharuch, Anand, Ahmedabad and Vadodara and heavy rainfall is likely at isolated places over Botad and Ahmedabad during the next 12 hours. In Maharashtra, light to moderate rainfall at many places are likely over northernmost districts of Konkan (Palghar and Thane districts) during the next 36 hours. Along with it, the IMD has stated that some damage is expected over coastal districts of Gujarat (Junagarh, Gir Somnath, Amreli, Bhavnagar, Surat, Bharuch, Anand, Ahmedabad, Botad, Porbandar) and Daman, Diu.
Cyclone Bulbul to intensify
According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), the Cyclone Bulbul that is over the Bay of Bengal has moved northwards with a speed of six kmph during past six hours and lay centred at 02:30 hrs over east-central and adjoining the southeast Bay of Bengal. In the bulletin released by the weather forecasting agency on Thursday morning, it was mentioned, "It is very likely to intensify into a severe cyclonic storm during next 24 hours and into a very severe cyclonic storm during the subsequent 36 hours."
Further, the IMD stated that the Andaman and Nicobar islands are likely to receive light to moderate rainfall in most parts during the next 24 hours. It was further stated that, "Light to moderate rainfall at most places in Odisha is also likely over north coastal districts of Odisha from November 9 and November 10."
