Cyclone Titli has made landfall near Gopalpur in Odisha around 6:15 am on Thursday. Five coastal districts have been evacuated, with residents being moved to safety after the storm intensified.

Cyclone Titli has made landfall near Gopalpur in Odisha around 6:15 am on Thursday. Five coastal districts have been evacuated, with residents being moved to safety after the storm intensified. Schools and colleges in four districts of Odisha have been closed. The landfall process will continue for the next two-three hours as wall cloud in the rear sector of the cyclone is yet to enter completely into the land.
Earlier on Wednesday, following the high alert issued by the Indian Meteorological Department in Bhubaneswar for the next three days due to the emerging cyclone Titli, train services were suspended between Odisha’s Khurda Road and Andhra Pradesh's Vizianagaram district after 10 PM. Also, trains coming from Uttar Pradesh from Howrah and Kharagpur side will not be allowed to enter Odisha from Bhadrak district.
In the southern region, trains will not be allowed from Hyderabad and Visakhapatnam to go beyond Duvvada city in Visakhapatnam after 6:40 PM to ensure the safety of the passengers on board. Furthermore, movement of passenger trains will also be temporarily suspended between Khurda Road in Odisha and Vizianagaram in Andhra Pradesh after 10 PM until further notice.
In a special warning issued by the IMD, Odisha is under the red alert zone rain thundershowers are likely to take place in most areas of the state on October 10 and October 11. IMD had instructed the government authorities to take precautionary measures to ensure no casualties. Cyclone ‘Titli’ was over the Bay of Bengal after which it has intensified into a severe cyclonic storm
