In a major development amid the ongoing probe in the Unnao rape survivor accident, Delhi Commission for Women Chairperson Swati Maliwal on Tuesday has written to BJP National Working President JP Nadda, demanding the cancellation of the membership of Kuldeep Senger, the party's MLA from Uttar Pradesh. Not only Swati Maliwal has demanded cancellation of Senger's BJP membership, but has also called for his removal as an MLA from the UP assembly.
In the letter, she has stated that despite mounting evidence against the BJP MLA, he has been continuing to be in power and enjoying unadulterated clout over the police, jail, hospital authorities and entire UP administration.
"It is the patronage of the BJP that has enabled him (Kuldeep Sengar) to unabashedly ravage the lives of the rape victim and her family," Maliwal wrote in the letter.
Stating that the entire country is demanding that Kuldeep Singh Senger should be immediately stripped off his membership in the UP Assembly and is removed from BJP, she added that his demand has fallen on deaf ears.
"I hope that with this letter, it will drawn upon you that dignity of a woman is far more important than a rogue, criminal MLA and shall immediately ensure his remove both from UP Assembly and the BJP," the DCW chief wrote in the letter addressed to JP Nadda. A copy of the letter has been send to PM Modi and BJP chief Amit Shah.
