The Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) has taken cognisance of the death and kidnapping threat issued to Delhi CM and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) convenor Arvind Kejriwal's daughter, ordering the Delhi Police to thoroughly investigate the matter and provide information to the Commission on or before January 16.

DCW chief Swati Maliwal wrote a letter to the Delhi police, pulling them up for failing to nab the culprits. She also termed the matter as serious in nature, and sought five specific information related to the case.

"The Delhi Commission for Women has taken suo-moto cognizance of the media reports regarding death threats and threat to kidnap made to the daughter of Hon'ble Chief Minister of Delhi. It is reported that threats have been received on the official email of the Hon'ble Chief Minister threatening to kidnap and kill the Hon'ble Chief Minister's daughter and other family members. It is learnt that the Delhi Police has deputed a Personal Security Officer (PSO) with the daughter and the matter has been referred to the Cyber Cell," DCW chief's letter to the Delhi Police read.

On Wednesday, Kejriwal's office had received an email which threatened to harm and kidnap Delhi CM's daughter. "We will kidnap your daughter. Do what you can to protect her," the message on the AAP convenor's official email read.

The matter was immediately raised to the Cyber Cell of Delhi Police, who are now looking into it. A PSO was deployed full time to look after Kejriwal's daughter.

This isn't the first security threat faced by the Delhi CM. Earlier last year in November, Kejriwal was attacked by chilli powder by an unknown attacker outside his cabin at the Delhi Secretariat.
